The NDIA Emerging Technologies Institute (ETI) is seeking highly motivated undergraduate and graduate students to join our 2027 Spring Internship Program. As an ETI intern, you'll work alongside leading researchers exploring the technologies shaping the future of national security while gaining hands-on experience supporting impactful research and industry engagement.
What You'll Do
As an ETI Research Intern, you'll have the opportunity to:

Collaborate with ETI research teams on projects focused on emerging technologies and national security.

Conduct literature reviews, policy research, data analysis, and support ongoing research initiatives.

Contribute to white papers, reports, presentations, and other publications.

Participate in brainstorming sessions, workshops, and seminars with researchers and industry experts.

Support planning and logistics for NDIA's Emerging Technologies for Defense Conference & Exhibition at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center.

Assist with event coverage, stakeholder engagement, and other Institute initiatives.

In select cases, contribute as a co-author on ETI research publications.
Who We're Looking For
Ideal candidates will have:

Current enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate degree program.

A strong academic background in engineering, computer science, public policy, national security, international affairs, or another relevant field.

Interest or coursework in areas such as artificial intelligence, quantum technologies, advanced manufacturing, biotechnology, cybersecurity, autonomy, or other emerging defense technologies.

Exceptional writing, research, and analytical skills.

Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving abilities.

The ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

A curiosity for innovation and a passion for advancing national security.
