Directed Energy

Directed energy technologies, including lasers and high-powered microwave systems, offer an innovative way to attack and combat threats. Crucially, these capabilities could flip the cost curve on air and missile defense, reducing economic asymmetries on the battlefield. Directed energy could also be widely applied for lethal and non-lethal anti-personnel and anti-vehicular usage. Before widespread deployment, directed energy must overcome remaining technical hurdles and successfully transition from the lab to programs of record.
