This white paper examines the use of unmanned systems in Ukraine and its implications for US force structure, warfighting doctrine, and technology development. The paper reviews the current battlefield environment in Ukraine, noting key factors such as lack of true air superiority and unique landscape conditions. It uses this analysis as a basis to extrapolate how U.S. and NATO forces might differ in their integration of UAS for future conflicts as well as how ongoing C2 and technology modernization efforts across the Army and the Joint Force will incorporate these lessons.
